Here are some of the common items that you may not know about that are good at removing dirt and stains from your carpet.

Shaving Cream – Shaving cream is usually used for shaving. It helps provide lubrication to make sure you get that perfect shave. But shaving cream also works wonders for getting minor juice stains out of your carpet. Juice spills are fairly common, especially if you have kids around. So the next time you have a spill, run straight to the bathroom and grab some shaving cream to help you clean it out. To use, blot the stain with a clean towel to absorb as much liquid as possible. Then apply some shaving cream to the area. Use a moist sponge to clean it up. Repeat these steps until the juice stain is completely gone.

WD-40 – This multi purpose product is not only great for lubricating hinges. WD-40 can also be effective with cleaning stains from of your carpet. WD-40 was originally made to repel water to help prevent corrosion in missiles. But it turns out that it was good for a whole lot of things, including carpet cleaning. Using WD-40 is very simple. All you need to do is to spray some of it on the stained area. Wait three to five minutes to let it set and then use a sponge soaked with warm water to gently blot the stain. Repeat until all of the stain is removed.

Borax – Borax is a common ingredient in detergents and cosmetics but can also be very effective in removing dirt and stains from your carpet. Borax is also known as sodium borate and can be easily obtained from a grocery store or market. Be careful in using this though as some carpet won’t not react well to borax. It is best to try it out first on a small unnoticeable area to see if it has any harmful effects. To remove nasty spills and stains from your carpet, wet the soiled area with clean water and then apply some borax to it. Let the area dry and then use a vacuum cleaner to extract and you’ll also notice that the stain is gone also.
